1.Baking cookies, brownies, or cake? Replace half the butter with plain fat-free yogurt or apple sauce and bake as directed.
2.Put away the olive oil bottle and use only spray cooking oil for a month. While olive oil is good for you, a drizzle here and there still packs on calories you have to burn off.
3.Drizzle your whole wheat toast with sugar free syrup and pumpkin pie spice instead of jelly or peanut butter. You’ll save about 100 calories +.
4.Take a month off from high caloric drinks, yes this means alcohol too. Stick to tea, coffee, and water. You’ll slim down in no time. See my recipe for a skinny green tea latte here.
5. Experiment with exotic spices and veggies. A big bowl of vegetables such as cauliflower and broccoli can be very satisfying when cooked right. Buy some marinara sauce and cook the chopped veggies in it adding some turmeric, cumin, allspice and minced garlic. Fat free but full of flavor and fiber which =’s full !!!!
6. Fage Greek 2% fat yogurt. It’s ultra creamy, full of protein, low in sugar and delicious when you stir in sugar free syrup, a tsp of jam or roasted flax seed.
7. Make skinny-mini smoothies. See recipe here.
8. Soups are great low-cal ways to fill up and feel like you are still eating comfort food! Rememeber, any soup made with lean meat, veggies and broth is SUPER low-fat and low in calories. Use reduced sodium broth and add garlic powder to replace the flavor lost by low salt content.
9. Eat at In-N-Out. What?$@*$@ Yes! Order a hamburger (not cheese burger) and replace the “secret sauce” with ketchup and mustard. You will be enjoying a lunch or dinner with only 310 calories and 10 grams of fat. So much tastier than Lean Cuisine!
10. Make “LA French Toast” by using whole wheat bread, egg white, cinnamon, and sugar free syrup. ~ still delish but also healthy and low fat. See recipe here.
