Today, I have weddings on the brain. What has triggered this
sudden obsession? My mom is in town. Leave it to mom to fill your head with
thoughts of “Where is this going? Because if he doesn’t propose right this
second he never will, and if he’s not going to marry me then I might as well
ditch this guy now…” What is it that puts us in a tail spin about our
relationships whenever we talk to our mothers? My BF refers to me as “the most
rational woman [he’s] ever met,” but here I am in a frenzied state of wanting
to send out save the date cards. So for those of you who are planning your
wedding, and not just in your head like the rest of us, these are some great
starting points that will save you a lot time and energy, and let’s face it a lifetime
of being bound to a man-boy is going to require all the energy you have.

The Dress
To every woman this is probably the single most important
piece of the wedding puzzle, other than finding the right groom. A-line dresses
work best for most body types since it’s slim through the waist and flared at
the bottom. Color on the dress is also something that is catching on. A splash
of red on the train or champagne colored embroidery makes the dress
interesting.

Right now, a shade of pewter gray is the hot accent color. It
is a beautifully rich color, yet soft and works well with most colors. Pair
this gray with butter yellow, aqua, eggplant, or pale pink to keep your special
day stylish.

Here, Try This
Letting guests create their own concoctions is great way to
keep your reception lively. Set up sample bars to let guests mix their own
cocktails. If you don’t trust your guests with alcohol unsupervised, then do a
cheese and wine bar or even a dessert bar.

Music Mix
You have your first dance song all picked out but what do
you play for the next 2+ hours? Have your friends and family send you
playlists, make sure to do any editing that needs to be done, and let your DJ
spin the tunes throughout the reception. You will be sure to have something to
please everyone, which will keep your party jumping till the wee hours.

Crowning Glory
Can’t figure decide whether to wear your hair up or down? Do
both. Brides are doing double duty with their hair, a polished up do for the
ceremony and then letting their locks loose for the reception.
