lindsay.jpg So today was my first day back to the gym since getting over the flu, and boy could I feel it! It’s tough getting back into the hang of things even when you stop your routine for just a short time. Today Shep went a little easier on me. We started out with a few of those ab exercises

I mentioned before and I know I am going to be hurtin’ tomorrow. Even though my muscles are burning and shaking while I am working out (Shep says that is completely normal), I really enjoy it because I know I am getting a good work out. Today we focused on keeping my heart rate up. It’s important to keep your heart rate elevated, that’s how you know you are burning those calories.

We combined some upper body exercises working out my biceps, triceps, and shoulders, while doing stationary lunges. My legs felt like rubber by the end of the session, I could barely walk! After my session with Shep was over, I did 10 minutes on the Precor machine. It’s like an elliptical machine, but without any moveable arms for you to hold onto. This machine is very low impact, so if you have bad knees, this one’s great! All in all, it was a great first day back at the gym.
