7 Bad Habits of Overweight People

fat.jpg People who are overweight often have a few things in common. Namely, they have been practicing bad health habits for many years. Here are seven typical habits of overweight people:

  1. NO REGULAR EXERCISE ~ try to get at least 2 to 3 days of cardio in a week and 2 to 3 days of resistance training.
  2. EATING OUT TOO OFTEN ~ restaurant portions are often huge and cooked with lots of oil. If you eat out, make sure to take at least half home!
  3. SAYING YES TO SECONDS ~ don’t say yes to a second portion until you give yourself 20 minutes to decide if you are full from the first helping.
  4. AVOIDING EVEN THE LIGHTEST ACTIVITY ~ make an effort to take the stairs and get outside and walk a little during breaks at work.
  5. NEVER SAYING NO TO SWEETS ~ when you crave something sweet eat a little bit of candy or whatever, but don't eat dessert just because it's there.
  6. EATING WHEN NOT TRULY HUNGRY ~ we often eat to satisfy emotional needs, so find other ways to brighten your mood besides food.
  7. SKIPPING MEALS ~ skipping meals can lead to overeating later in the day so try to eat several small meals throughout the day.

I agree that these habits will usually lead to being overweight, and that many other medical causes can be the reason for some conditions, but I hae found that even practicing just a few of these bad habits can cause excess weight.
I am about 50 lbs overweight and really only have 3 of the bad habits -
1 - Love sweets
2 - Skip meals and eat late at night
3 - No regular exercise

I hope this can be a wake up call for many of us.

I was overweight but in a few months i was able to eliminate 35 pounds and i am now at my Ideal weight . I used to
1 skip meals
2 and because i exercised the same way over and over i was not getting results, only maintaining.

now i exercise in different ways every week and eat 3 small meals and 2 snacks a day...

it is possible to loss the weight, just take the 1st steps, women usually have problem losing weight but i did it and so can you!
and a really good snack is to put a serving of grapes in the freezer...they are amazing

I totally agree that just adhering to a few of the "good" habits can change your life and cause you to lose weight. I lost 55 pounds in only 2 months by exercising regularly and eating better. Eating better only means that I ate way more fruits and vegetable than meat. When I ate meat, I usually ate chicken or turkey with only red meat once or twice a month. Of course, I ate lean pork as well (no sausages or pork bacon). It can be done, however, you have to stick to your plan or the weight will slowly creep back to your body. Believe me, I know!
