I walk three miles a day outside and have seen the results. It must make my metabolism rise because I have been losing weight and feel better as a result, and I have only been doing it for about three weeks.

I have actually been successful at losing weight with a combination
of cardio exercise and hoodia supplements. I seem to eat less with the
hoodia and I have lost 5 pounds in the past week.
So far I like it!

Greetings!

I think it was in late '99 when, after being dumped by a girlfriend, I began a year-long foray into what one might call a "later-Marlon-Brando"-type lifestyle.

Armed with my new 24 Hour Fitness membership, and a vague misguided idea of looking like the people in the magazines, I began "working out" at the gym almost daily. Also almost daily, I was loading up for lunch with a combo plate of glop from my favorite Mexican take-out place, along with almost-nightly "barbecues" with my drinking buddies, which were pig-outs of pork ribs, baked potatoes, and 12-packs of beer, followed by inevitable excursions out which heavily favored Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, Jagermeister, and Del Taco, and then passing out at 2:30AM

I was probably inhaling between 5000 and 6000 calories every single day. Like most Americans, I had no idea at all how human bodies were designed to be fed. My bowel movements were a disaster -- ferocious, acrid, acidic, and debilitating. It seemed like I was going to the bathroom constantly. I ballooned to 203 lbs., with a porcine 39-inch waist. My clothes stopped fitting. People whispered behind my back. I was a disaster.

The human capacity to rationalize one's own gross neglect in amazing. I managed to convince myself that because I was showing up at 24 Hour everyday and elbowing my way through the teeming hordes in order to flail away on the Nautilus machines and make a complete ass of myself, having no idea what I was doing, that I was "bulking up", and that the rolls of dripping lipidotic flab that cascaded off my midsection were "muscle mass".

And, no "workout" was complete without flinging my heaving, listing carriage on whichever "ab" contrivance didn't have a body on it, and proceeding to do a bazillion crunches (or whatever) to get those "sexy washboard abs". I was a mess.

Enter Todd "TJ" Kramer. He accosted me at the gym one night. I suppose it was partly out of sympathy, and partly out of his being sick of me scaring people. One might say I was a bit of a tough sell when he pitched me what was then called the "24/5 Program". But he proved to be just the motivator I needed at that point -- a frigging pit bull.

I acquiesced, as much to show him that he didn't know what he was talking about than for any other reason, and started on the "meal plan" (read: DIET) that he drew up for me, and working out with him 3-4 times per week. Under his tutelage, it didn't take very long to come to understand the simple yet utterly counterintuitive techniques which are absolutely necessary achieve the cosmetic "results" the vast majority of gym-goers long for. In seemingly no time, it made perfect sense to me that all I (or pretty much anyone) really needed to to be fit and healthy was 2000 calories a day, max.

I lost 40 pounds in a little over three months. I went from 23% body fat down to 10%.

That was seven years ago. These days, I still stick to pretty much what I learned by working the 24 Hour Fit program. I've kept the weight off, and even though I'm perilously close to 40 now, I'm in better shape than I was at any time during my 20's.
