Thumbnail image for trainer.JPG Most people I know want to get fit but reaching those goals can be a long road if you’re going it alone. The longer it takes to lose the weight or gain the muscle, the more frustrating it can be. There is no denying we are a culture who thrives on instant gratification! What if you could reach your “fit destination” faster? Good news … you can, and it’s not as hard as you might think. Personal trainers at 24 Hour Fitness use a program based on the 5 components of fitness; cardio, resistance training, food intake, vitamins/supplements, and professional assistance. Your trainer will sit down with you, identify your goals and create a personalized fitness plan to help you reach those goals faster. During the 50 minute, private sessions, you will learn a combination of exercises created specifically to get you in the shape you want to be in. Your trainer will show you the proper way perform the exercises best suited for you, how to avoid injury, the right weight, reps, and rest times

The personal training program at 24 Hour Fitness is also great because you get a fitness guidebook, fitness and nutrition journal to track your progress, and a nutri-kit with vitamins and supplements from Apex. These three tools, along with your trainer, will get you on the fast track to reaching you fitness goals. Think of it is getting to ride in the carpool lane during rush hour. By “traveling” the road to fitness with a trainer onboard, you are likely to get where you’re going much faster! Why endure months of trial and error in the gym, when a personal trainer can show you “the right way” right away!

Thumbnail image for Thumbnail image for Thumbnail image for 24 fit pic.JPGI took THE BEST CARDIO KICK BOXING CLASS I've ever taken at the 24 Hour Fitness in Hollywood. I used to teach kick boxing in college ... so it's hard for me to find a class I think is top notch. Well, not only did I get my booty kicked by the magnificently motivating SKIP JENNINGS ... but this gifted instructor also made the class really entertaining and fun. The music was GREAT ... he clearly has a following of regulars because everyone seemed to know and love him. The class was 60 minutes total and ended an ab workout. My ham strings were super sore and so were my shoulders ... it was a KILLER total body workout that flew by in a flash. Confucius said, “A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.” Ah such wisdom. This blog is more like a journey of a thousand leg lifts, down dogs, and crunches but none the less, I figure I'd better get moving! I took my first step into the world of 24 Hour Fitness, beginning with a tour of the "Hollywood Sport" 24 Hour Fitness club, which is close to my house. 24 Hour Fitness has a variety of club types ranging from "FitLite" to "Ultra Sport." This particular gym is large and in addition to cardio machines, weights, and Group X fitness rooms, also has a basketball court, indoor lap pool, sauna, steam room, spa, and lot's of natural light which I love! The tour took about 20 minutes and I was basically shown around the club, and told about all the programs they offer to their members to help them achieve their fitness goals. My tour guy, John, was great. He really emphasized how important 24 Hour Fitness thinks it is to give it's members the necessary tools to get results. He explained that more often, the members who actually use the fitness tools available through the club, are the people who see results and therefore continue working out long term. Makes sense to me!

MY FIRST CLASS: Hatha Yoga taught by Yulia. I’d recommend this 60 minute yoga class for a beginner or someone who doesn't want a really intense yoga workout. It was a good balance of stretching and simple yoga flows that kept me moving continuously so I never got bored. About 30 people took the class, but the room was not overly crowded. I left feeling very relaxed and limber.
