90210…Better Than Ever?

Maybe…just maybe. The show doesn’t rely too heavily on nostalgia, which was a paramount concern when old faces were announced to appear as regulars. In fact, the characters that returned are a good compliment to the new characters and their storylines by intermingling the history of West Beverly High with new stories to come.
Of course, you can count on plot twists and storylines befitting of a typical ‘high school’ drama, but what gives this incarnation of the series an edge over the first is the strength of its acting. And, as an added bonus, the new cast - for the most part - can actually pass for the ages of the characters they’re playing; remember, Luke Perry didn’t graduate from WBH until he was John McCain’s age.
It wasn’t nearly as painful of a two-hour premiere as I was expecting, and I’m surprisingly interested to see what happens next week.
