Blizzard has released a patch for its decade old RTS hit StarCraft.
Patch 1.16 offers some optimizations: “[StarCraft] now only uses as much CPU as it needs to run smoothly.” In-game chat (excluding whispers) is now saved in the replays. There’s some bug fixes and the removal of several exploits including Terrans drop-anywhere nukes and some additional Zerg [...] [...more]
Blizzard has brought down the law on their online service Battle.net banning 350,000 hackers from using the StarCraft/Diablo II application.
A post on the Battle.net site explains:

Blizzard today announced, during its BlizzCon StarCraft II panel, that StarCraft II is being turned into a trilogy.
The first game in the trilogy will consist of the Terran campaign, and is currently titled “Terrans: Wings of Liberty.”
The second, a Zerg title will be “Zerg: Heart of the Swarm,” and the third game being “Protoss: Legacy [...] [...more]
Battle.net–Blizzard’s online home for Warcraft, StarCraft and Diablo franchises–is getting a bit of an overhaul in time for the releases of Diablo III and StarCraft II.

The trio of new screens Blizzard released earlier for their upcoming RTS StarCraft 2 bring the battle to Mar Sara, one of the first Terran colony planets to be infested by the Zerg.
The planet was the backdrop for the opening of the original StarCraft, and was eventually incinerated by the Protoss in a later mission. [...] [...more]
Blizzard has dropped a batch of Screens for their upcoming RTS StarCraft 2, which they point out will be shipped when the game is done. A good motto that leaves us wondering if we’ll even get a chance to play the game this decade.

Blizzard has confirmed that, along with StarCraft II, WoW: Wrath of the Lich King and Diablo III projects, it has another MMO in the works.
“There is still one unknown project,” Blizzard executive VP Rob Pardo revealed to OnlineWelten during the Blizzard WWI.

It would appear StarCraft II has received a release date, though not officially.
An online SKU search for the game on Best Buy, Circuit City, and Gamestop’s web sites reveal the same apparent release date of December 3, 2008.
