It doesn’t matter whether you’re into hardcore or casual.  I’m talking about gaming of course.  2009 has already brought some smash hit technology, thanks to CES, but what about for gaming?

The future of gaming is here people!  Thanks to the awesome people at Game Daily, we are able to take a peek at what the best of the gaming franchise has to offer.  They have compiled a list of awesome new hardware to add to your gaming collection.  I must admit, some are a bit too pricey for my blood, but I may look into the Nyko Wii Wand, because it looks hardcore!  The new “Wand” will use this thing called Trans-Port Technology, which sends commands and vibration through the bottom of the control.  This way you can add a pistol grip to the bottom for an even cooler experience for shooters.  This is just one example, I’m sure there will be a wide array of awesomeness to come from this.

The 3D Gamer Glasses are none other than the Nvidia GEForce 3D Vision.  They’re battery operated and play your video games in awesome 3D by using an infrared light that works for the TV and for PC.  I don’t know how it works, but I DO know that I may be willing to shell out the $199 to play all my games in 3D.  Depending if I win the lottery or not.

Now we come to the Coup Di Gras.  The Emperor “Scorpion” gaming station brought to you by Canada’s finest, NQ, includes a tilting chair, a 3 monitor-holding-stand, adjustable air lighting, adjustable air flow, a HEPA air filter—this thing does more than my car!  It costs more too!  This baby comes at a whopping $40,000!!!

Of all the (alleged) retarded people that govern masses of other people, Congressman Joe Baca is trying to pull one bonehead move. You know those Surgeon General Warning labels they put on Cigarettes trying to get you to stop smoking because they cause lung cancer, gum disease, yellow teeth, etc… Well the California Congressman is trying to put one of those Surgeon General warning labels on video games.

Baca and co-sponser R. Wolf are proposing to add one of these labels on all video games rated “T” for Teen and “M” for Mature, in what they like to call “The Video Game Health Labeling Act of 2009” or as I like to call, the “ruin gaming for the unfortunate teens who rely on their parents to get video games for them” act.

The label is set to read:

“WARNING: Excessive exposure to violent video games and other violent media has been linked to aggressive behavior.”

I believe that even more aggressive behavior may result from putting such labels on video games. Then again, it may not make much of a difference. I usually read the Surgeon General warning on beer as I wait in line to buy it, and then just run along my merry way. This might impact sales though, and in this economy, I think that would be a big no-no. Any opinions?

Rejoice friends! For it has come! Bethesda is releasing a patch for Fallout 3, which is set on fixing a whole lot of bugs and quests, which I’m sure you’re already coming across.

You can get the patch today (Jan 13.) via Xbox LIVE, Playstation Network (PSN) and can be downloaded from LIVE or be downloaded from Bethesda for you PC gamers out there.

If getting those bugs fixed wasn’t enough reason to get the patch, you need to have it if you want to play the first Fallout 3 DLC pack, Operation: Anchorage, which is set to release on January 27 for a mere 800 Microsoft Points.

These are just some of the new bug fixes for optimized play:

• Friends notification no longer causes the game to pause. (Playstation 3)
• Fixed occasional crashes during loading and waiting.
• Friendly or neutral NPC health bars, when taking damage, no longer flicker repeatedly.
• Fixed issue where certain NPCs would occasionally disappear from the game.
• Fixed issue where dead NPCs would occasionally come back to life.
• Fixed rendering issue with the Gatling Laser gun’s tracers.
• Fixed issue where the haircut menu would occasionally not appear properly.
• Added ability to remap your VATS and pip boy buttons.
• Fixed rare load/save issues that would cause NPCs to behave incorrectly.
• Fixed issue where quest objectives would occasionally not update properly due to talking activators, intercoms and conversations.
• Using Radaway from the Pip-Boy’s Status Menu repeatedly no longer crashes the game.
• Player no longer gets stuck in level up menu if their skills are maxed out.
• Fixed issue where multiple followers would occasionally not load into an interior.
• Fixed rare issue with getting stuck in VATS mode.
• Fixed rare crash with fighting NPCs with corrupted data.
• In game radios will now play properly if player was listening to the radio in the Pip-Boy first. (Playstation 3)
• Fixed rare crashes while loading and saving games.
• Fixed rare issue where player would fall through the floor while in VATS.
• Fixed occasional crash after scoring a critical hit in the head with a Railway Rifle.
• Prevent NPCs from inadvertently dying from falling.
• Fixed occasional issue where the controller would stop working properly.
• Fixed crashes related to repeatedly equipping and dropping clothing and armor into the world.

Quest Fixes

• Fixed several instances where quest item stayed in inventory permanently after completing quests.
• Fixed an issue where the distress message would occasionally not play in Trouble on the Homefront.
• In The Waters of Life quest, the Citadel gate will open properly if the player fast travels away after exiting the Taft Tunnels but before reaching the Citadel gate with Doctor Li.
• For the Home Sweet Home quest, the broken protectrons in Big Town become active at the proper time.
• In The American Dream quest, fixed specific issue which prevented the player from accessing their belongings in the locker by the door if they left the room first.
• Fixed infinite caps exploit in Strictly Business quest.
• Fixed rare instance where Dad would have no valid dialogue during The Waters of Life quest.
• Prevent issue during the Finding the Garden of Eden quest where player would fade to black, instead of traveling to Raven Rock, while in combat with a follower.
• Fixed several XP speech exploits with certain NPCs.
• Fixed XP exploit with a robot in Fort Bannister.
• Fixed issue where player’s controls can become locked permanently during The American Dream.

A simple, free web game inspired by Valve’s popular co-op shooter, the tiny title was developed by Markus Persson for the 2009 Java 4k Competition–a contest that challenges programmers to design a game under 4KB in size.

Riding on their latest expansion release Wrath of the Lich King, Blizzard has announced that the perpetually growing base of the world’s most popular MMO World of Warcraft has now reached 11.5 million subscribers.

Blizzard Entertainment, Inc. today announced that World of Warcraft®, its award-winning subscription-based massively multiplayer online role-playing game, is now played by more than 11.5 million subscribers worldwide. This new high was reached following the November 13 release of the game’s second expansion, Wrath of the Lich KingTM.

Within its first 24 hours of availability, Wrath of the Lich King sold more than 2.8 million copies, making it the fastest-selling PC game of all time. In addition to winning a number of editor’s choice awards from major gaming publications, the expansion has now gone on to sell more than 4 million copies in its first month, setting a new record for monthly PC-game sales…

Less than a few hours after getting word that the Xbox 360 version of Left 4 Dead had been hacked, Valve has already cleaned up some of the mess.

The corporation has released a server-side fix to deny the reported cheats–including witches spawning in saferooms and players becoming giant–on all dedicated Left 4 Dead Xbox 360 servers.

Valve Writes:

The fix is designed to halt the cheating behavior on the dedicated servers, which accounts for the majority of the co-op and Versus modes of play. A title update for those playing on user-hosted servers and/or via system link will be released in the coming days.

Valve has released a patch for Left 4 Dead in hopes of easing some of the user frustrations we’ve been hearing about.

Versus mode has now been locked to Normal; as for co-op mode, the server will now switch to whatever difficulty the party has selected.

Here’s the full list of changes:

* Finding a dedicated server when starting the game from a lobby is now faster and more reliable
* Versus mode is now locked to Normal difficulty
* Difficulty on a server is now locked to the one set by the lobby reservation
* Fixed lagouts/spikes after level transition
* Fixed directory issue with spray logs in some cases
* Fixed video settings not saving after closing video options dialog
* Corrected a boomer suicide exploit
* Several minor localization fixes
* Fixed disabling cheats incorrectly resetting data

Details on several upcoming Activision/Blizzard titles were announced today during a joint event with in-game advertiser Massive Inc.

MTV reports that Call of Duty 6 has officially been titled Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, and is slated to arrive in fall 2009.

Additionally, an in-game shot of Guitar Hero 5 was shown in a demonstration displaying a “Burger King ad to the right of the note highway.”

Wow, what a surprise to find out that these titles were in the works, I never would’ve guessed.

A post from Ubisoft representative Ubi_Marc on Far Cry 2’s official German forums has confirmed that a patch for the PC version of the title will be arriving sometime next week.

No notes or details were provided but a release is expected sometime between December 8th and 11th. As soon as the patch is up or the notes are released we’ll be apostin’. Until then, any particular fixes you’d like to see?
