It doesn’t matter whether you’re into hardcore or casual.  I’m talking about gaming of course.  2009 has already brought some smash hit technology, thanks to CES, but what about for gaming?

The future of gaming is here people!  Thanks to the awesome people at Game Daily, we are able to take a peek at what the best of the gaming franchise has to offer.  They have compiled a list of awesome new hardware to add to your gaming collection.  I must admit, some are a bit too pricey for my blood, but I may look into the Nyko Wii Wand, because it looks hardcore!  The new “Wand” will use this thing called Trans-Port Technology, which sends commands and vibration through the bottom of the control.  This way you can add a pistol grip to the bottom for an even cooler experience for shooters.  This is just one example, I’m sure there will be a wide array of awesomeness to come from this.

The 3D Gamer Glasses are none other than the Nvidia GEForce 3D Vision.  They’re battery operated and play your video games in awesome 3D by using an infrared light that works for the TV and for PC.  I don’t know how it works, but I DO know that I may be willing to shell out the $199 to play all my games in 3D.  Depending if I win the lottery or not.

Now we come to the Coup Di Gras.  The Emperor “Scorpion” gaming station brought to you by Canada’s finest, NQ, includes a tilting chair, a 3 monitor-holding-stand, adjustable air lighting, adjustable air flow, a HEPA air filter—this thing does more than my car!  It costs more too!  This baby comes at a whopping $40,000!!!

Microsoft unveiled a whopper of a bomb at CES, the unveiling of Windows 7 Beta Preview Program, but this time you can actually go the site and download the ISO with no feeling of guilt or anything. They actually want you to have it! All you have to do is download it from the site, burn it to a DVD, and shazam! You’ll be the hit of every Windows Party on your block! Hurry up though, because the Beta expires August 1, 2009. The only thing holding you back is a sluggish download, but I’m sure you can still find it on the torrents. Happy hunting! I know what I’ll be getting tonight! After that, I’ll be downloading the new Windows 7 Beta.

Microsoft’s Songsmith might be the coolest thing that Microsoft has developed in YEARS! Songsmith is like karaoke in the sense that you are singing words, however, you sing your own lyrics, and the application then generates music that goes along with your voice! All you have to do is sing a few lyrics, then choose a musical style, and Songsmith will create backing music for you.
This program is both for the musically inclined and those who are total beginners like myself. If you are new to song writing Songsmith lets you explore different styles and arrangements. However, if you are an experienced songwriter you can use Songsmith to work with new melodies.

The second I get home tonight, I am downloading the free trial and going to sing my heart out!!

One of the greatest 1980s movies, Tron, is being remade into Tron 2.0, and not just by flashy young heartthrobs. Superfans can rest assured that they will be keeping true to the core values of the movie. To prove it, they have added one of the original castmembers from the movie, reuniting with Jeff Bridges.

It’s safe to say that Boxleitner will probably play Tron himself. If you’re new to the Tron scene, it’s basically a Hackers meets Nightmare on Elm Street. In the original, Kevin Flynn had to survive a computer game he was sucked into. Boxleitner played Tron and his human designer, Alan Bradley. It was the original Matrix!

The plot of the new “2.0” is… well we don’t know yet because it’s being kept top secret, but people are buzzing that it’s going to be a “fun space” that people go voluntarily, but something goes wrong, or it just might be a place where people didn’t realize exactly what they were getting themselves into. I’d like to see what you Tron superfans think the role of Tron/Alan is going to be. Evil Mastermind or Hero? Well, here’s a mini clip for you to get the feel of the old and prepare for the new!

The AppleInsider blog released an article yesterday that “encourages” its owners to install anti-virus software. This upsets me for two reasons; one is because Apple always slams Windows for needing anti-virus software and second, the whole reason I even own an Apple is because it didn’t need anti-virus software installed!!

AppleInsider’s response to my two upsets are:

The posting isn’t necessarily a reversal of opinions for Apple, though it does reflect an overall softening of its opinions. While one of the first “Get a Mac” TV spots in 2006 made fun of Windows’ susceptibility to viruses and portrayed the Mac as near-immune, the current campaign doesn’t mention this point. The company’s current FAQ for curious switchers also simply says that Mac OS X “resists most viruses” and doesn’t make any blanket statements.

Then, today on the official Apple website under Mac OS:Antivirus Ulitiies the following is posted:

Apple encourages the widespread use of multiple antivirus utilities so that virus programmers have more than one application to circumvent, thus making the whole virus writing process more difficult.

I really am annoyed by this, and totally would have gotten the most decked out SICKEST Windows computer for the same price I paid for my base model MacbookPro. URGH x 1,000!

Whenever any of my friends have a question they instant message me and ask the question, like I am this encyclopedia of random useless knowledge. I have always been a really great researcher, if something or somebody is online, I will find it. I used to find it flattering that my friends would come to me when they wanted to see or find something online or just in general, but now its become a royal pain. While browsing the net for funny and interesting things, I came across this article on BuzzFeed titled “Let Me Google That For You”. I of course read the article and ended up clicking the link and OMG it is really great.

“Let Me Google That For You” is a website that allows you to enter your annoying friends question, and link them back to a really funny version of the answer they wanted.

When your friend clicks the link, they think they are getting the answer to their question. However, a basic Google search opens and then demonstrates the step your friend should have taken to have their question answered…which was to go to google it themselves. BuzzFeed desrcribes the site as:

Next time someone emails or IMs you with a really obvious question, enter the Google search at Let Me Google That For You and send them back the sarcastic link.

I suggest you bookmark this and keep it handy next time you friends decide to get lazy and ask you ridiculous questions!!

An article posted on Hollywood.com earlier today covers the announcement that Paramount and Dell have struck a deal to bring films pre-loaded on Dell computers:

In a move that could start a new wave in PC sales, Dell and Paramount Pictures announced that they have signed a joint venture that will see Iron Man come pre-loaded on Dell computers for anyone who wishes to order the unit reports WashingtonPost.com.

It appears to be a work-in-progress seeing that Paramount is the only studio that has signed on and Iron Man is the only film being offered. Dell claims that more titles will eventually be offered during the purchase process, but for now, it looks like Dell and the studios have a “wait and see” attitude to decide if they want to move forward with a broader strategy.
