CES News: Cowon S9 the iPod Touch Killer
Posted on 15 January 2009 by Manny
It finally looks like the iPod Touch has some competition with the ultra sexy Cowon S9. It’s been a while since I saw any PMP step up their game to even show any sign of competition with Apple, but Cowon is making its rounds. This PMP was set to release initially only in Korea, but since us American folk like us some sexy technology, they decided to send it our way.
Apart from its sexy sleekness, like a dark and mysterious seductress, the Cowon S9 has the specs to match. Here’s a little breakdown of the goods:
- 3.3″ AMOLED touch screen, 16 million colors, 480 x 272 pixels
- 500MHz dual-core processor
- DVD-quality MPEG4 and TV output (supports AVI and WMV)
- Bluetooth 2.0 with stereo headset support
- G-sensor accelerometer
- Extended battery (11 hours video and 55 hours audio)
- JetEffect 2.0 audio technology
- EQ Filter and stereo enhancement including BBE+, Mach3Bass, 3D Surround and MP enhance audio processing (Say What?!)
Sounds pretty sexy right? Well, as most sexy things that you feel like you can’t live without, it comes with a price. It’s a bargain for the 8GB model at $199.99, and the 16GB will run you a good $239.99. If you can’t find it in stores, I recommend hitting up eBay, Amazon, Newegg, or Jetmall. Anybody try this out yet?
