Date Night- Fraiche Restaurant

I remember when Culver City, located in Los Angeles’ Westside, was a movie studio wasteland. While the city is home to some of Los Angeles’ biggest sutdios, Culver City just wasn’t a hip neighborhood. Things have changed. In the past few years, with the help of city dollars and renovation, Culver City has become a great neighboorhood.
Nothing brings people flocking to a new neighborhood like great food in a trendy restaurant. If the restaurant is more substance than trend, than people will come back again and again. That’s a winner.
Fraiche Restaurant in Culver City is the darling of Chef Jason Travi and Thierry Perez. They serve a rustic French and Italian inspired menu. I noticed a mostly Italian influence on the simple one page menu. The menu also focuses on seasonal market fresh ingredients, and that difference really translates onto the plate. The Lamb Spezzatino served with ricotta gnocchi and the Risotto with bacon confit and balsamic braised radicchio are two of my favorite dishes at Fraiche.
The wine list is extensive and reasonably priced. Definitely talk to Thierry Perez, the GM and sommelier before you order a bottle. He won’t steer you wrong.
The restaurant space is gorgeous. The open kitchen, walls of wine and patio with plush couches, make the space incredibly warm, inviting and comforting. With white linens and candles, the space is also the perfect date spot.
