I love the idea of a body detox but I never really have the dedication to starve myself on the lemon juice and cayene pepper cocktail for a week.  A little detox does do a body good though.  It can help remove toxins from the body, boost evergy and aide in digestion.  All good stuff, right?

Here's 4 At Home Detox Tips that will keep you well fed and help you avoid those expensive trips to the spa for detox.

Brush Your Skin!

Ok- this might sound crazy, but brushing your skin can help detoxify your body!  It helps remove excess toxins and dead skin cells.  It also brightens the skin and keeps it fresh and smooth.  Grab a natural brissle brush, like one you might use in the shower, but use it before you hit the water.  For 3 or 4 minutes before you get in the shower brush in long strokes up the body towards the heart.  Don't forget the palms of your hand and the bottom of your feet!  Then jump in the shower as normal using luke warm water to help reveal radiant skin.

Lots of Water- LOTS!

Water is nature's way of cleansing the body- inside and out.  Staying hydrated is a great way to cleanse the body.  Did you know that hot water is more effective at reaching the finer tissue of the body moisturize and hydrate?    For a quick detox drink hot water with lemon or fresh ginger throughout the day, in addition to lots and lots of room temperature water.  You'll be clean in no time!

Scrape Your... Tongue?

We all brush out teeth but how often do we think to scrape our tongues?  Not very often.  Scraping you tongue is a great way to remove bacteria from your mouth beyond just regular brushing.  You can buy a fancy tongue scraper if you'd like, but the back of a spoon works just as well.  Scrape the tongue from back to front before brushing.  Be gentle and don't scrape too far back.

Take a Walk!

Take a brisk 20 minute walk.  It's a great for a jolt of exercize, and it also helps detoxify the body.  It encourages the skin to break out in a light cleansing sweat, and gives the lungs a blast of fresh air.
