Healthy Pre-Dinner Snacks

Do you find that you're absolutely starving while you're getting ready for that 8 or 9 o'clock dinner reservation?  I'm never very good at waiting for dinner.  I need to have a snack before I leave the house or I'm sure to eat the entire bread basket when it reaches the table.  Here are 4 healthy pre dinner snacks that will keep you satisfied but still hungry enough for that pasta dinner.

One Minute Antipasto Salad

Roll a thin slice of ham or prosciuto around skim milk string cheese.  Thow in some olives and roasted red peppers too.  Flavorful and satisfying and a great source of calcium.

Edamame 

Grab a handful of frozen shelled soybeans and tun them under hot steaming water to thaw.  Add a pinch of salt and squeeze of fresh lemon and you've got a snack full of fiber and soy protien.

Cheese Melt

Spread spicy mustard on a small thin slice of whole grain bread.  Add a thin slice of sharp cheddar cheese and pop under the broiler until melted.  Top with a slice of tomato and salt and pepper.  Delicious!

 Pineapple and Pistachios

In the mood for a sweet snack?  Munch on a few slices of dried pineapple and about 25 salted pistachios.  Both snacks are a good source of antioxidants.  Yum!
