Where to begin with this place...well for starters, any place outside of Koreatown that sells Soju is all right with me. My BF suggested we go to this place one night and upon getting the menu I was overjoyed to see Soju as an ingredient for almost every cocktail! This place is just the best bar EVER. The ambiance is very laid back the bartenders are cool and they let you bring your own food to the bar. There's also no cover charge and they hold dart tournies every Saturday and Trivia night every Saturday. Since discovering this little gem, my BF and I like to pop our heads in Thursday nights and enjoy the Scorpion Bowl.
Daily Pint
If you really love beer, and I mean REAL European beer not cheap watered down crap, then you have to visit this place. They actually have a beer on tap that tastes like Dark Chocolate. It's amazing! I love to grab a Woodchuck Cider Ale in Pear whenever me and the BF pop in. One side of the dive is the bar, complete with jukebox and machines to gamble on. The other side of the bar houses pool tables, a shuffleboard table, and a foosball table. This is another bar that let's you order in food. I've only ever seen pizza delivered but I'm sure they'd let in whatever you want. After knocking a few back here, me and my friends like to head down the street to the Santa Monica beach. Nothing is more fun then running buck naked into the Pacific Ocean at 2 in the morning with a belly full of good beer...ah, good times.
Honestly, this place is faux dive bar. While it gives the effect of being a dive it's actually way to trendy to be categorized as such, but it's got damn good bartenders, a jukebox, pool tables, and gives off a dark lounge type vibe. You could definitely grab a booth in the back area and swap some major spit, a.k.a makeout. This spot, just like the rest has no cover charge and you can roll in to the bar in your most comfy pair of jeans and flip flops during the week. This one is a favorite Friday or Saturday night hangout for my sis, her coworkers, and myself . During the weekend the crowd tends to be little dressier but not too much. The music is always an eclectic mix of whatever three songs someone's dollar bought them, and your fellow drinkers are very friendly.
This bar is literally down the street from my office. Anytime I've had crazy day at work I head here and belly up to the bar for a Strongbow. I love cider ales, and this is a great one. This is a jukebox-less bar but there is still no cover and it's open early for brunch, lunch, dinner, and beyond. The kitchen is pretty decent. I usually order fried scampi and chips. They host a Trivia night every Monday and Wednesday and have live music throughout the week. The wait staff is really cool and most of them are Brits, and who doesn't love a British accent? This is a great all around bar. There's always a sporting event to watch on the the large projector screen, or a Guitar Hero type tournament going on. If you're just bored as hell then stop by here, you won't be bored for long.
My BF and his friends love to hangout here. I finally penetrated the inner sanctum and was invited to go here with him and "the boys." It's more of a dive lounge than a dive bar, and a very well hidden one at that. Tucked away in Silverlake, this place is worth the trip. The crowd is good and the drinks are strong. They are home to numerous live bands, mostly of the funk genre. If you're not feeling the band then just go to the other side of the bar and dance to whatever the DJ is spinning, which is a mix of old school classics and trendy new school pop. Unlike the others, you will have to pay to get in here but if memory serves me right it's only 10 bucks, and they make up for it with reasonably priced drinks.
