5 Best Places to Kiss in Los Angeles

| | Comments (1)

There's nothing like a good liplock.  Remember the days when a kiss in the back of a dark movie theater was more thrilling than anything you'd ever done?  Remember the way your heart raced when your lips touched?  Why not recreate that throbbing heart this summer?  Here are the top 5 places to kiss you love in Los Angeles

Griffith Park ObservatoryThe Griffith Park Observatory is open after a long restoration project and it's more beautiful than ever.  Drive up just before sunset and enjoy the incredible views of the city.  Walk hand in hand around the grounds, explore inside the observatory and share a kiss overlooking the city lights.  The observatory is a Los Angeles treasure.  And it's free.  Now there's no excuse not to go make a memory.

Disneyland-  It seems like no matter how old you are, Disneyland has a certain kind of magic.  Why not share a kiss with your beau on Mr Toad's Wild Ride, or It's a Small World.  If you're feeling particularly swarthy you might go for Pirates of the Carribean.  Whatever your flavor, just keep it PG. You are at Disneyland afterall.

Union Station-  This Los Angeles train station was built in 1939.  Can you imagine the kisses that have been shared in that building since then?  The building itself if an old mission style.  The interior is old fashioned and gorgeous from the oversized chairs to the detailed ceiling.  You'll feel like you're stepping back in time.  Grab your honey and lay one on him.

The Egyptian- The Egyptian movie theater is a Hollywood landmark.  It was build in 1922 and after a 15 million dollar renovation, it's absolutely stunning.  The theater is located in the heart of Hollywood, but it still feels like an old world escape.  Catch an old Hitchcock movie in the theater and share a kiss, just like Grace Kelly and Jimmy Stewart might do in Rear Window.

Cicada-  This downtown restaurant is housed within an absolutely amazing building.  The design is old school art deco from the late 1920's.  With rich woods and dim lighting, this is the perfect place to sit at the bar with a cocktail and steal a kiss or two from your love.  They also have live music from the 1930's and 1940's on Sundays.  Share a kiss on the dance floor and that's serious romance.

Amy Winehouse 2.0

I absolutely loved Amy Winehouse when she first hit the scene.  Her voice is just amazing.  But I've played her CD to death and it doesn't look like she'll be making anything new anytime soon.  Frankly, she should put down the pipe, take a nap and have a sandwich or two.

Duffy is my new Amy Winehouse.  She's a Welsh singer songwriter with a full and earthy voice.  She's the perfect combination of sweet and sultry.  Her debut CD, Rockferry is already in serious rotation in my car.

How To REALLY Look Good Naked

| | Comments (0)
nudewoman 2 redo.JPGI have not had the pleasure of sitting through Carson Kressley's Lifetime series "How To Look Good Naked." But I can only imagine that it is full of warm fuzzy phrases to lift our spirits and strategically placed "girlfriends!" followed by three snaps in a "Z" formation. While Mr. Carson is well versed on the ways of the fashion world, I have this to offer. I've found that while naked, my body looks best when no one's looking at it. Do what I do and scream "Oh my God don't look, cover your eyes," while I run over and turn off the the lights. There, problem solved.

Hookers Rock

First Friends went off the air, then Sex and the City, then Gilmore Girls (you know you loved it too)...What the hell is left to watch? I'm sorry but I need at least one show that has a "will they won't they" story line, constant jabs at pop culture, and humor that makes me laugh so hard that I snort. Sure there's Ugly Betty  but with it being on it's summertime hiatus what will I fill my DVR with? I am anxiously awaiting the premiere of Showtime's new series Secret Diary of A Call Girl. Oh, stop being so prude. We all liked Samantha Jones and she was only one paying partner away from being a Hooker. Enjoy the clip and see more of Belle here.

Aah, L'amore

couple_kiss_bed-1.jpgIt's a yes or no question ladies. And believe me, just because he says it doesn't make it true. We all know the adage "Actions speak louder than words," well when it come to love it's definitely true. Being in a semi-permanent state of blissful couple-dom with my current BF, I figured i would pose this question. Is it love? Contrary to popular belief, you don't have to decipher some foreign code to figure out the answer. Here's how I knew it was love.

I love to sing! Morning, noon, and night I can be found letting a song come out of my heart. So when at Six Flags a few weeks ago with my BF I was bound to let one go. While sitting in front of a frozen lemonade stand with a line full of people, I randomly burst into the "Different Strokes" theme song. While this would make most men slink back in embarrassment, my BF shockingly asked, "Are you seriously singing Different Strokes right now?" and proceeded to laugh his head off and give my knee a "you're so damn cute" squeeze.

A few months ago things were in constant state of turmoil and every time my guy was able to get me on the phone, I was soaking in a nice hot bubble bath. One night he was able to pull me away from my tub and when I got to his place he grabbed my purse, set me down in the kitchen, turned on the TV, handed me the remote and told me he was making me dinner. He makes awesome spaghetti, so I was overjoyed. He made the 30 minute trek across town to his place more than worth it. He also presented me with a candle for my bathroom, so I could enjoy my nightly ritual of bubble baths, even more.

There are countless instances in my head when my guy has gone above and beyond the call of duty. I take care of him and he, in turn, takes care of me. That's how I know it's love.

Because Pawn Shops Are Icky

How do you mend a broken heart?  Maybe you go out for cocktails and dancing with your best girlfriends.  If you're scorned maybe you pack up your ex's stuff and leave it outside on the sidewalk with a 'free' sign next to it.  If you're smart you sell the jewelry your ex boyfriend gave you.  But who wants to go down to a pawn shop?  Not cute.  Now there's a place sell the necklace he gave you for Christmas right before he broke your heart on New Years Eve.  And the best part?  You can tell your story too!  Next to each piece of jewelry you can write why you're selling what you're selling.  Oh the drama.  Oh the scorn. Oh Ex-Boyfriend Jewelry.

Smart Shopping Tips

grocery cart.jpgWith grocery prices on the rise it's no wonder celebs are so thin, they're the only people in America who can afford to eat healthy. You walk down the aisle of your local grocery store and it's cheaper to buy 12 Twinkies than it is to buy 1 apple. How do you combat this unfortunate fad? Here are some shop smart tips to help you fill up your cart.

Pass over organic produce. That's right, organic produce is very pricey and let's face it pesticides haven't killed you yet so...If you are overly concerned about ingesting it, only go organic with these 12 foods, which have far higher levels of pesticides: peaches, apples, sweet bell peppers, celery, nectarines, strawberries, cherries, pears, imported grapes, spinach, lettuce and potatoes.

Avoid pre-made meals. Anything that requires a microwave to cook is off limits. While these meals are convenient, what you pay for a single serving you can buy ingredients for and have 5+ servings of the same meal.

Cutback on how much meat you're eating. Of course you need a sufficient daily intake of protein, which most of us get from meat. Well expand your sources of protein by adding more beans or even tofu into your diet.

Go for foods that are in season.
Doing this can make a significant difference. When something is in season there is an overabundance for it, so stores want to have a consistent amount of turnover with it. They will drop prices so it flies off the shelves and then restock as quickly as possible. Take advantage of that.

Realize that the generic brand is just as good. Cheerios and Honey O's are the same thing, so go ahead and grab the cheaper brand. Remember that when you buy name brand all you're paying for is the label, and do you really need name brand food? It all tastes the same and ends up in the same place.

Natural Remedies To Save Your Summer

If you're anything like me, you love to get outdoors and enjoy the summer months.  From frolicking in the surf to an intense morning hike, there's something about summer that just calls to me.  But the blazing sun, mountain trails and BBQs galore can take it's toll.  Here are 4 natural remedies to ease some possible summer ailments.

Sunburn Sympathy

Aloe is hands down the best soother of those nasty sunburns.  It's packed with amino acids and has anti-inflammatory effects that can tame the redness.  Pick up a plant at the local nursery and break off a piece if a sunburn strikes.  Of course you could always just pick up a bottle of 95-100% aloe vera gel and that would do the trick too!

Rid Yourself of Summer Sniffles

What's worse than a summer cold?  Try using eucalyptus to break up the congestions that comes along with a summer cold.  Fill a bowl with steamy hot water and add one drop of eucalyptus essential oil.  If you have a eucalyptus tree, you could always just pick some leaves, crush them in your hand and add them to the water.  Cover your head with at towel and breath deeply (keeping your eyes closed) for 1 minute.

Picnic Relief

Did you have one too many bites of potato salad at the family picnic.  Calm your belly troubles with a cup of chamomile tea, or by chewing on fennel seeds.  Both aide in digestion and help dispel gas from the stomach.

Travel Safe

Eating your way across the globe this summer?  Avoid food borne illness by getting your daily fill of garlic (from food or supplements) and probiotics (from yogurt).  Garlic provides antibacterial action while probiotics build up your guts beneficial bugs to counter harmful bacteria.  If you do end up with a sour tummy, try an activated charcoal supplement.  It'll help absorb the toxins.
