Eater (NY), Eater SF, and Eater LA … 3 regional blog/websites that keep a firm grip on the racing pulse of local food scenes and connect food focused media outlets. They dish the underground dirt about restaurant openings, closings, and report culinary news that’s worthy of their time. This addictive site first launched in New York, foodie capital of America. Next, they hit up San Francisco. Finally they arrived in LA, and were welcomed by all food loving Angelenos. I discover juicy nuggets of info daily on Eater LA and there’s nothing bland or boring about this site. They write with attitude, judge with vigor, and possess all that’s needed to be an informed, justified food snob. You can read restaurant reviews written by local bloggers, keep up on citywide bar buzz, and “tipping is customary.” That’s right, if you happen to have a bit of ”food-forward”news, share it with the appropriate Eater site. Eater sf.jpgLet’s learn some Eater lingo. Plywood Report – this means someone has spotted a newly leased space under construction that is going to open as some type of bar, eatery, or other gastro venture. Stalker – sounds scary but this term is playfully used to describe a devoted foodie who digs and digs to find some 411 about a certain chef, restaurant, bar etc. Listage – when Eater lists a bunch of links to other media sources that have some delicious food news. All the Eater sites are little sisters of Curbed. This site (which has a NY, SF, and LA branch) covers the world of real estate, construction news, neighborhoods etc. Also in the curbed family; The Beach (a variety of news mainly from the Hamptons) and Racked (info on shopping, boutiques, and the retail scene in NY).
