Food Find Daily- Perfect Cherry Cake
Posted on 11 September 2008 by joy
Sometime when I step in the kitchen to tackle a recipe I’m looking for a certain result. I’m looking to capture a memory. I come from a large family of cooks. More importantly, I come from a large family of eaters. Food is important to us. Whenever we loose a family member, we keep them alive with their recipes. My Aunt Deedee was famous for her spice cake. Whenever I’m missing her smile or her laugh, I whip up her famous spice cake and she’s right there with me.
I know I’m not alone in these loving food memories. Today, Miri of Room for Dessert reminded me that virtually every family is connected through food. Miri made this gorgeous cherry pound cake inspired by her Grandmother. With a little persistence and adaptation, Miri created the cake that came out of her Grandmother’s oven. There’s nothing like taking that first bite of cake and being flooded with loving family memories.
Check out Miri’s lovely blog for more photos and the recipe.
