The Top Gun Anthem arrived in the Xbox Live Marketplace today (available on PS3 as well), as a free download to coincide with the 4th of Goulet.

Well I just played it for the first time and I have to say that that song is really cheesy.  I guess I hadn’t watched the movie in a while, but that had the stink of the 1980’s all over it.

Overall it was a pretty boring song, but I liken it to ‘Rock You Like a Hurricane’ as you play both songs for the solo.  Steve Ouimette, same guy who did the We Three Kings shreadmake, rocks the actual guitar for the track which, I remind again, has an awesome solo with just filler surrounding it.  Overall though it’s definitely worth making a little space on your harddrive since it’s free.

I also downloaded the Coldplay trackpack and I have to say that two of the songs are much harder than I expected.  Yellow might be the toughest of the three, but that’s not saying much as I FC’d Violet Hill rather easily.  Still they mix in a lot of different combinations; something I expect to see in World Tour is 4-button combos and other combinations that haven’t been tapped into.  It’ll give us something new to learn.
