Britney Spears: What the F-Word?
Posted on 20 January 2009 by Veronica
An official announcement was given last week that the next single to be released from Britney Spears Circus album will be “If You Seek Amy.” Weeks before the CD was released the tracklisting came out and, even I was taken back when I read the title of the song! Now, it seems like the radio stations, along with everybody else has finally caught on to what the lyrics and song title “If You Seek Amy” really means. Hollywood.com reported that:
Radio stations have threatened to ban the song from their airwaves due to the underlying explicitness of the meaning, reports the UK Sun. The inherent sexual innuendo has been deemed inappropriate for Spears’ young fans.
To put it all into context, one of the lines in the song is: “All the boys and the girls are begging to If You Seek Amy.”
Faced with the prospect of the single being banned, Spears has gone back into the studio and rerecorded it.
Rather than rewriting the song, Brit and her label have simply dropped the “K” from the word “seek” and renamed the song “If You See Amy”.
I bet you anything that the rerecording of the song will not change a thing! There are so many songs in which the lyrics are extremly hard to deciper, and I guarantee taking away the K and making it SEE instead of SEEK won’t really make any difference.
