The young heart-throb is getting ready to star in a remake of the 80’s hit, Footloose. This is the film that boosted the acting career of Kevin Bacon. Efron, being the singing and dancing fool that he already is, should fill these shoes quite nicely. Hollywood.com has more where this came from:

Unlike HSM3 Footloose will aim for an older teen and adult demo.Efron is just about set in a deal that will pay him a mid-seven-figure salary and give him script approval, reports Variety.

The studio is working on new songs that will complement some of the classic original tunes associated with the original movie. Though the original film wasn’t a musical, screenwriter Dean Pitchford wrote lyrics for songs that included the Kenny Loggins title song as well as “Let’s Hear It for the Boy,” “Almost Paradise” and “Holding Out for a Hero.”
