Hollywood.com covers the latest news on the protest against the opening of the new movie, Blindness:
Julianne Moore stars as the wife of an eye doctor (Mark Ruffalo) who loses his sight; she feigns blindness to stay with her husband who is quarantined with the others who have been ‘infected’.
When fictionalized stories revolve around real life occurrences it can have an affect on those who know the situation only as their every day norm; in this case, blindness.
“The movie portrays blind people as monsters, and I believe it to be a lie,” said Maurer, president of the Baltimore-based National Federation of the Blind reports the Associated Press. “Blindness doesn’t turn decent people into monsters.”
