I was browsing through cake recipes the other day and suddenly had a Twinkie craving. They are like a lost dessert. I haven’t taken a bite of that soft, sweet, creamy, processed goodness since I was about 12. Sadly, the magic of eating things like Twinkies and Snowballs has been diminished since I received the “eat green, whole foods memo.” What to do, what to do? I decided to search online for a homemade Twinkie recipe and found this one by MelinOhio on
Recipezaar. I’m planning on baking them this week so I’ll write a follow up post on how they compare with the originals. I don’t think Twinkies, store bought or homemade, will ever make it into the “whole foods” circle but at least I can pronounce all the ingredients in the homemade recipe!
