How to Make Infused Vodka
Posted on 31 July 2008 by joy
I’m always looking for that super special, unique cocktail to ‘wow’ my friends. Sometimes that means looking deeper than just strange juice flavors and unique glassware. Infused vodka is the best way to add a twist to your vodka, and a depth of flavor to your cocktail.
All you need to flavor your own vodka is your favorite, medium quality vodka, a clean jar, your fruit of choice, and some patience. Flavors cam range from the mellow, like cantaloupe or cherry, to sharp flavors like chili peppers or fresh ginger, and everything in between
All you need to know about infusing your own vodka you can find here.
Once you’ve spiffed up your vodka, try a special cocktail like Chocolate Espresso Martinis with Vanilla Infused Vodka! It’s a show stopper.
Chocolate Espresso Martinis with Vanilla Infused Vodka
adapted from Michael Chiarello
*Infuse 1 bottle of vodka with 3 vanilla bean pods for two to five days. Remove pods and enjoy vanilla infused vodka.
1 lemon wedge
2 tablespoons turbinado sugar (raw sugar)
2 tablespoons finely chopped bittersweet chocolate
4 tablespoons espresso, cooled
1 1/2 ounces best vodka, chilled
1/2-ounce creme de cacao
Long lemon twist
Wipe the rim of a chilled, oversized martini glass with lemon wedge.
Pour sugar and chocolate into a saucer and mix well.
Dip glass rim in mixture and roll to thoroughly coat rim.
Over a large handful of ice in a cocktail shaker, pour espresso, vodka, and creme de cacao. Shake until frothy. Strain into prepared glass. Garnish rim with a twist and stand back.

Went to a beautiful wedding recently and they had HUGE containers (I mean, barrel-sized) full of fruit-infused vodka. It was soooo good and yet soo dangerous because you couldn’t even taste the alcohol. My husband loved it so much that the bartenders eventually called him “The Apple Guy.”
