It’s Official: ‘Magneto’ Movie Confirmed

For those of us “X-Men” geeks, here’s the latest update on the Lauren Shuler Donner spin-off project. There is , in fact, a “Magneto” movie in the works.
Lauren Shuler Donner is actually the producer for this project, and she confirmed to Empire Online that the movie actually supposed to be a movie about Wolverine, but they made a last minute change.
She said, “I think first we wanted to make Wolverine, and then David [Goyer, the attached director] took another film, and there wasn’t a lot of time, but I’d like to make that – we’ll have to see.”
Looks like we still have a chance to catch a Wolverine movie anyway! Let’s keep the hope alive, but will Hugh Jackman be back to play the clawed crusader?
Let’s get back to the “Magneto” story. The plot is supposed to revolve around a younger Magneto and Professor Charles Xavier, it’s supposed to be, “Erik and Charles in their early, early years,” explained Donner. It’s supposed to map out how the man turns into Magneto.
Production Weekly has come out with a synopsis of the film which states that,
‘The synopsis also lets out that Erik and Charles meet after the war and the bond between the two is made over the realization that they are alike in their special powers. But their differences will turn them into arch enemies.”
David S. Groyer will be directing the “Magneto” movie, and also provides the script. Until this project wraps up, we can look forward to the “X-Men Origins: Wolverine,” which is set to debut in the U.S. May 1, 2009.
