Liar, Liar…

Posted on 27 May 2008 by Sharifa

Is your guy coming home late, going out with the guys a little more than usual, or looking like he’s about to jump out of his skin? Approximately, 60% of marriages in the US end in divorce, that’s right the number is steady climbing, and the number of people who are marrying is actually dropping. Nothing can kill the euphoria of marriage or couple-dom like a big fat lie. How do you know if you’re being taken for a ride? Here are sure fire ways to tell if his pants are on fire.

Knowing your parts of speech comes in handy when detecting a lie. If almost every other word he’s saying is “Uhh, Umm, Ahh…” then he’s definitely lying to you. While we all use modifiers in everyday speech, excessive use of them signals lying. You are literally listening to him work out and try to piece together a lie right in front of your eyes. If you’re going to lie to my face at least take the time to figure out what you’re going to say before hand.

What Big Eyes You Have…
The eyes are the windows to the soul…this symbol is scene throughout literature and for good reason. When someone is lying to you the eyes will always give it away. The pupils dilate dramatically when spewing untruths, which signifies tension in a nontruth-teller.

Silence Isn’t Always Golden
Not talking enough can be a tell of a liar. Anytime the sounds of crickets in the background follows a question you’ve asked then you’re being lied to. The amount of time a fibber speaks is significantly shorter than that of someone who is being honest with you. This can be attributed to the amount of details that liars “omit” from their stories.

1+1 Doesn’t = 4
If it isn’t adding up then it’s not the truth. Don’t second guess yourself, you know when something doesn’t make sense. If you’re not sure just ask detailed questions…their story will start falling apart fairly quickly.
Incompatible facts = a lie.
