New Beer and Music Tax in New York
Posted on 17 December 2008 by Manny
Gov. David Paterson has been labeled as the devil in New York after making his first state budget tax by increasing 1.1 percent in spending. The biggest sins… taxing on music downloads and alcoholic drinks. That’s right people, beer tax!
Let’s start with the music… he’s calling it the “iPod tax” which will tax the sale of downloaded music and other “digitally delivered entertainment services” which sounds like an umbrella term for “give me money for using the internet, so no more free porn for you” tax.
You better believe that he’s also raising taxes on gas, taxi rides, cable and satellite TV services, cigars, movie and sports tickets, and health spa visits. Soon we’ll be seeing oxygen tax!
Apart from wanting to increase revenue, this Gov. says that it’s meant to discourage the consumption of high calorie beverages. It’s a twisted form of censorship if you ask me. You have the freedom to say what you want, but you better not drink what you want! Man this country is losing freedoms everyday, I just hope we don’t go Commie….
