No Buffalo Wings for Super Bowl Parties Due to Shortage
Posted on 29 January 2009 by Manny
That’s the news coming out of the Buffalo Wing capitol of the United States. Buffalo issued a statement saying that restaurants are experiencing some major shortages, and with the Super Bowl just around the corner, there may not be enough to account for the 5% of the 1 billion chicken wings eaten during Super Bowl.
The supply is down, and the demand is high. This week, the Georgia Department of Agriculture quotes a price of $1.425 for chicken wings, well above the 2008 high of $1.27. This deserves some serious looking into, who has ever heard of a Super Bowl Party without any hot wings? It’s America’s number 1 Super Bowl appetizer! I’ll be looking into this with a watchful eye, believe you me. Updates to come.
Until then, what do you think caused the wing Shortage? Hooters perhaps?
