No Requests to Keep TRL On Air

250px-trl-titlecard No Requests to Keep TRL On AirAll good things must come to an end. Even things that have helped keep people in the loop when it came to the hottest music and videos. Mtv’s TRL or Total Request Live, is finally coming to an end after ten years.

Dave Sirulnick, TRL’s executive producer, has officially announced the shows time of death. The show will come to an end in November on a Saturday two-hour special. The execs are calling it a break, not a cancellation. We all remember how Mtv’s “breaks” work though. Does anyone remember Headbanger’s Ball? It was a smash hit, went on a break, came back, and then made a major flop. I hate long good-byes, why does Mtv hurt me so?

If you know your music video history, the first Mtv video was “Video Killed the Radio Star” by The Buggles. Seeing as there are less and less videos on Mtv, and TRL seemed to be the main video provider for the network, I don’t see there being any more videos coming any time soon. Now I wonder which video will be TRL’s last? I have my money on, “Internet Killed the Video Star” by ME, but I have yet to make that video. I have until that Saturday in November though. I think I can pull it off.
