Pretty Pretty Wedding Cake

I couldn’t stop myself. I just had to share this picture with you. This is a wedding cake I put together for a friend of mine at the beginning of the summer. Wendy wanted a pale green cake, decorated with delicate pink cherry blossom flowers and fresh roses. I created a understated but beautiful cake for her. The inside of the cake is a deep rich chocolate layer cake filled with a orange scented vanilla buttercream frosting. It was do die for!
Putting together a wedding cake is no easy task. It usually takes me two to three days of work. Martha Stewart has the best tutorial about how to start to tackle a cake of this size. While some serious skill is required, you’ll also need a good deal of patience and nerves of steel. Don’t be discouraged, an amateur baker can create a wedding cake. If I can do it, you certainly can too!
