You can’t walk into a grocery store this season without finding walls of packaged strawberries.

Pick up as many as you can. These delicious, little red berries are the perfect snack to keep your kiddies happy and healthy this summer. And they’re not such a shabby treat for adults either!

Strawberries have more Vitamin C that even some citrus fruits. Sound crazy? They’re also packed with fiber and folates and calcium. Despite being super healthy, strawberries have the perfect amount of sweetness, so your and the little ones feel like you’re having a dessert treat, when you’re really loading up on vitamins.

Who needs a Twinkie when it’s strawberry season? (Don’t answer that…)

Tips for Serving Strawberries to Kiddies

- Just give them a rinse and serve the sweet, ripe fruit in a bowl. Don’t wash them until you’re ready to serve them or they’ll break down.

- Add the juice of 1/2 a lemon to brighten the flavor.

- Add yogurt, banana, ice and vanilla for a yummy smoothie.

- Melt a little dark chocolate in a saucepan and dip the tips of the strawberries in the dark chocolate.

- For a little extra sweetness and crunch, drizzle them with a touch of honey and sprinkle with granola or chopped pistachios.

- Grow your own! Strawberries are an easy and satisfying plant to grow with your kids. Get all the tips on how to start your own strawberry garden here!
