The top seven football video games to play after Super Bowl Sunday
Posted on 30 January 2008 by RobotsAlive
Nothing could be finer then playing video games and watching football, two of the best pass times to spend on any given day. Super Bowl Sunday is almost here and as we gather with our friends, family and a bag of chips,
the question arises: what do we do after the big game? Sure we can chat
about the game or dissect all of the Super Bowl commercials but why not keep that
pigskin passion alive and play some good ole’ smash mouth football on
our favorite console. Here are the top seven football games to play
after Super Bowl Sunday.
#7 NFL BLITZ
You want some hard hitting hits, then this is your game. Plus you have to love a game that doesn’t force upon you the opportunity to a kick a PAT.
#6 NFL 2K1
This was probably the first game when I fully realized that football games weren’t just 8-bit and 16-bit games. Quick tip: always play as the Vikings. Throw the ball deep to Randy Moss every offensive possession and its an easy six points.
#5 FIFA Street
Yeah I know, football and futbol are two different things. Hear me out though, just play one quick game and you’ll be addicted instantly. I know I was.
#4 NCAA Football 07
NCAA Football 07 is arguably the best NCAA football game ever made. The features alone are too many to list. Its numbing really.
Madden and its early 21st century incarnations were great but with its 04 edition it took it to a new level. The training camp feature was a much needed breath of fresh air in the Madden franchise and the new owner mode with its ability to increase prices on hot dogs was fun as a whole.
#2 Tecmo Super Bowl
The granddaddy of all football games and truly revolutionary as it was one of the first sports games that used actual names/attributes of real life athletes. Fun fact, Junior Seau (New England Patriots) and Jeff Feagles (New York Giants), two players featured in the classic Nintendo game will be playing in Sunday’s game.
#1 Mutant League Football
For my money, Mutant League Football is the game that combines both my love for football and the endless creativity that spews out of video games. The game had it all: exploding bodies, paying off the ref but it couldn’t beat tackling some weird mutant and having him spiral out to some unknown galaxy.
What are some of your favorite football games?
