They Can’t Sing But They Can Design

I love how celebrities who have failed at being famous for their actual art form go on to create clothing lines. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not taking away from legit artists like Gwen Steffani or Diddy, who have had success doing it all. I mean people like Heidi Montag, Jessica Simpson, etc. They manage to churn out a fashion line right before their 15 minutes run out and manage to make them successful. If you put a gun to my head and told me my option were to listen to either girl sing or die, I’d tell you to pull the trigger. But these D-listers eye for fashion doesn’t suck.
Heidiwood is the line created by D-list reality star Heidi Montag exclusively for Anchor Blue. Why is her line succeeding while her nemesis, Lauren Conrad’s line is flailing? I’m assuming it’s tied to the everyday easy to wear designs and moderate pricing. You can mix and match the pieces to wear out on Robertson for a shopping spree or for a night out at trendiest Hollywood night spots. Not to mention, Heidi’s Barbie-like appearance make her clothes look great. Sorry ladies, Ken doll not included.
Jessica Simpson’s line of shoes and accessories, primarily carried at Macys, is definitely on the up and up. She has expanded to clip-in extension and even swimwear. The girl can’t carry a tune in a bucket, nor can she remember the words to “God Bless America” but she can design her butt off. Or at least the people she’s hired to work under her label can design their butts off. I can’t help but wonder how much input she actually has with the overall product. Regardless, home-skillet is pulling in some serious bank with her chic shoes and over-sized purses. They merge trendy high fashion with reasonable pricing.
