ANTM Isis King Getting Gender Reassignment Surgery

On Tuesday’s episode of this weeks The Tyra Banks Show, Tyra Banks will surprise her first ever transgendered ANTM contestant Isis King with gender reassignment surgery. The 22-year-old has not gone under the knife yet because of the expensive cost of the surgery and tearfully speaks about how difficult not having the reassignment surgery has been on her.
The surgery will be performed and paid for by Dr. Marci Bowers. Bowers is a leading gender reassignment suregon and also had the procedure done herself. US magazine was the first to report this story and also includes a short video of Isis’ upcoming appearance.
According to the magazine Isis’ responses was that of extreme emotion:
“This is not happening!” King, who was born Darrell Walls, says when Banks introduces her to Dr. Marci Bowers, a leading gender reassignment surgeon who has experienced the surgery herself. Bowers is paying for the surgery.
“[I feel] like I’m about to wake up,” says King – who lived in a homeless shelter in Maryland before trying out for the show.
