Prepare for confirmation Twilight fans, for it is here. “The Golden Compass” director, Chris Weitz, will take the reigns for “New Moon.”

It is really strange that movies use different directors for the sequel to a successful premier, but Catherine Hardwicke was replaced because of “creative differences,” which translates to “she wanted more money, but they didn’t want her to get it.It’s a recession people, we have to make good stuff, but for half the cost!

If it makes all of you feel better, Stephenie Meyer said:

“I’m sad that Catherine is not continuing on with us for ‘New Moon,’ she wrote on her Web site, but then noted that, with Weitz: “Torches and pitchforks aren’t going to be necessary.” The director “is excited by the story and eager to keep the movie as close to the book as possible,” she wrote. “He is also aware of you, the fans, and wants to keep you all extremely happy.

Are you extremely happy? I know I am. Extremely to the extreme.

Thanks for the input, I think stewart and Pattinson do look good together on screen but I don’t know if she’s as dynamic in the role as the character is in the book. Maybe she can change my mind when she stars in the upcoming movie “The Runaways” I guess we’ll see :)

  2. shopaholic Says:

I am actually glad Catherine Hardwicked got kicked out in New Moon. Not only she made too many unnecessary changes, she also made Edward Character a bit off (i.e.Edward Jumping up and down on a truck, so not like him…)I like the casting though, Rob Pattinson and Kristin Stewart is perfect as Edward and Bella, except Rosalie, Nikki Reed is pretty, but she is not stunning enough as Rosalie.

  3. Me Says:

well if changing the director means the movie will be closer to the book im all for it.

no lie i seen the movie before i read the book.. i didnt understand what the big hype was. i was actually confused.. i was askin questions to someone who read the book to understand and came to the conclusion i had to jus read it.. [now im hooked on their story by the way]

i did like the movie alot when i first seen it.. but after reading the book.. i was upset with the film..

wasn’t it the point to understand edward and his lifestyle his famil and who they are. the cut esme story and charilie.

i think if they would have cut all the “bad vampire” killing the made up it would have been possible to put in other scenes like the blood typing scene that someone mentioned..

one more thing.. i would wished kristen did a better job as bella… im not sayin she is not a good actress… i jus didnt like her as bella… she mumbles to much

  4. TwilightObsessed Says:

i agree with bear and twerd there was a lot missing and it wasnt as romantic as it was in the book….
anyway for you people who havent read the bok and saw the movie, trust me THE BOOK IS WAY BETTER!
and just a tip, “READ IT BEFORE YOU SEE IT”
sooo, i guess i’ll leave it at that.

  5. Beanie Shyea Says:

I am thankful for the director, Katherine Hardwicke, who brought Stephanie Meyer’s pure brilliance to life, although Twilight was a sure disappointment. Don’t get me wrong, I like the movie, though in comparison to the book, the movie was no where near as good. I look forward to seeing New Moon as they apparently have a fantastic new director. I’m hoping to see the movie stick to the story line. Katherine had many enjoyable parts of the book Twilight, not included, which was also a let down. Twilight fans enjoy the saga -the books. Why alter the stories when converted to movies, when the story in the books are what people want to see?

  6. Maggie Says:

I am in love with twilight. yes the movie was a bit of a let down, i think for someone who hadnt read the book, it would be confusing. I am SOOOOO EXCITED about new moon. yes i was crying, and yes i am in love with edward/robert.
i am near to finishing breaking dawn, but i really do not want to finish it. i know that the last chapter is called “happily ever after” and i am actually worried that if i do read it, and finish it, i will need therapy. i sooo do not want the story to end and will read it until i die, if necessary.
    yes i am obsessed x

  7. Twerd Says:

    another twilight obsesser here!!!!!

Im reading the books again (I wont say how many times now) and I cannot put them down!!

I was a bit let down about twilight, dont get me wrong i loved it and ill watch it many more times to come i just was so depressed about how many love scenes they missed and how much they changed parts around, i think there should have been more love and less bad vampires attacking people scenes (those scenes arent even in the book!!)

I cannot wait for new moon, I really hope with a new director that its going to follow the lines of the book and we dont miss much! i hope the small amount of scenes with bella and edward are as smoochy as in the story!

and i hope bella is more like bella in the book, we shall see!!

anyways my rant is over =)

  8. Freya Says:

I absoloutly loved twilight. Robert Pattison is so hot!!!!!!!!
I have read the book twilight n now reading new moon can’t wait till the sequal comes out. But the only hting is if u read the book you’ll see tat a lot of scenes were taken out including the blood testing scene which was fantastic. But so far in new moon it is a lot better than twilight.
I think that Robert suited the part of edward but kistern stewart didn’t seem as pretty as the author describes her and does fit the part well a tall.

  9. Bailey Says:

You guys are really stupid if you think Kristen Stewert should be replaced. She is the best actress to have the role of Bella. Stephanie Meyer even thinks so herself. She is that mysterious girl that no one knows what she will do, thats the whole perspective of BELLA. Yes New Moon is going to be better than the Twilight movie but that is only because there is going to be more drama and more action. Robert Pattinson even said he is scared for the fans to watch New Moon because he thinks it will be nothing but depression due to what happens (for those who know what happens in the beginning of New Moon).

  10. caroline Says:

robert is sooooooooooooooooo hot in that picture

  11. Sabrina Says:

I LOVE Twilight I have read the books like a gazillion times and I have the Posters and movie. I LOVE all the characters Especially Robert/Edward. HE IS SOOOO DELICIOUS!!!!!! I can’t wait for NEW MOON to come out in theatres I will definatly be going to see it. I LOVE YOU GUYS!!

  12. dani Says:

i’m glad they replaced katherine hardwicke. i loved the golden compass and i’m sure that new moon is going to be so so much better than twilight. i’ m not bashing it either, but i really think it had so much potential and it was a huge let down

  13. Annonomus Says:

Twilight was a good movie and everything, but it didn’t inform you as much as it should have. I mean in the book it tells you about Carlisles past but it says nothing about it in the movie. I am happy that Catherine Hardwicke isn’t directing New Moon, so hopefully the movie will be closer to the book as they said. I am looking forward to it. And i gotta say, until i saw the movie Twilight, i never read any book, and then after seeing it i just had to read the books and i have read them all more than twice, and i never get tired of it. I guess i would have thought the movie was better if i didn’t go along and read the books.

  14. sophiee* Says:

new moon is better than twilight, i love all the dramatic things that happen in it like, ok i won’t ruin it for anyone but if youve read it you have to agree there are some moments that make you cry and some that make you want to scream with hapiness :)
ok…more to the point, its not as good as BD but i still love it…Jacob is a sexy boy, Edward is a handsome gentleman, Bella is spoilt :P who cares if Jacob get’s hormonal? we all have our bad days…jacob just has more of them XD Edward is nice, but oh god
    Jacob, I so would :)

    rant

  15. Sammie Says:

I really liked the movie and thought it was cool how they put the cover of the book in the movie(the apple in his hands)………they should try to do that with the second one too

  16. Marija Says:

    I know this is random
    and has nothing to do
    with the article above.

    But does anyone else
    feel that Kristen Stewart
does not make a good Bella?

    I can’t imagine
    her playing Bella’s role in
the later books. I mean Robert
is perfect for Edward, but I’m
    just not feeling Bella’s role.

  17. Sophia Says:

The movie Twilight is the reason that I read the books! I also thought that there were a lot of differences from the book to the big screen. But the movie was good! And I have to admit I have watched it 8 times! I dont know how they are gonna make the rest of the books into movies. They had so many details that I LOVED, that I am worried that I wont be able to see my mind and imagination come to life… Hey but my dreams are always there still! YAY

  18. nicky Says:

omg i love twilight the movie but it could have been better if they used more scenes from the books i am a little worried that in new moon there will be to little Edward…..I LOVE EDWARD CULLEN!!

  19. Adrienne Says:

The reason why Catherine Hardwicke left the franchise is that she felt that the November release date was too rushed, and that the script was not ready for filming. Summit told her that they intended New Moon to start filming in early 2009, some 3 months after Twilight’s release, and before the script had been fully written. They offered her, (approximate) quote: “more money than I or anyone in my family has ever seen”. She refused because she did not want her name on a film that has been rushed into theatres.

Proof? Summit (the film company that owns the Twilight rights) has asked Ms. Hardwicke to direct another three upcoming films for tweens.

  20. kim Says:

    edward is so hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhooooooooooooooooooooooooooootttttttttttttttttttt

  21. amaldona Says:

Twilight was a good movie though it could have been i little but more dicriptive like the book was… thats why i am looking forward to the new director.

  22. Sammie Says:

I really liked the movie i thought i stuck somewhat close to the book

  23. Issa Says:

Twilight was a really good movie, though they could have made it beetter and added a few more of the scene’s that r in the book.
I’m just worried that in New Moon, they won’t make the Were-Wolves look good.
I have read every book 5 times, and watched the movie six times.
Stephenie Meyer iis a really good Author, and as long as she keeps writing I will keep writing.
~To all those Twilight Saga Fans!~

  24. Kan Says:

The movie twilight was much different from the book. but still it was very good and yet it made me want to love the way bella and edward loved each other.

  25. drakemuavae Says:

the soundtrack. lets just hope its as good as the first.

  26. Lisa Says:

i absolutely love twilight. i can just imagine what new moon is going to be like.

  27. Shaqefa Says:

Twilight was an okay movie but it was so different from the book
Butwho cares anyways because i was kinda just looking at Edward the whole time I mean dang he cute

  28. shaquesia Says:

the book was so different from the book
But who cares because Edward was so freaking HOT!!!!

  29. Mob Says:

I liked Twilight so much. Everybody played her/her role so nicely. I watched it at least five times, but did not get tired. Its a movie you like to keep in your collection. Really, wonder, why they are changing the Director and taking so much risk.

  30. Manny Says:

yeah I heard that a lot from friends and co-workers. That’s probably why they changed the director too. Hopefully the next one will be a little better and more accurate ;)

  31. Bear Says:

Omg yay! I was disappointed with twilight because alot of things were changed and it was a waste of my money. But hopefully the sequel will be way better. I’m not bashing twilight, I just really didn’t like it as much.
