Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert Tour Box Office Recap

miley-cyrus.jpgDisney's movie staring the 16 year-old spawn of Billy Ray Cyrus, Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert Tour was the box office leader this weekend raking in 29 million! Playing only in theaters that had the special digital 3D projection system, it made box office history by taking the record for the biggest per-screen average for any movie released on over 100 screens.

Out of 683 screens, it earned $42,460 per screen. Up until this weekend, "The Empire Strikes Back" has held the record since 1980. Of course, part of the reason why this silly little concert movie made so much money was the fact that Disney charged a premium to see it. For example, at Disney's El Capitan theater, the showcase theater Disney owns on Hollywood Blvd, tickets cost $24 each.
