Lucas Grabeel Bares All: What He Really Thinks Of Ashley Tisdale
After graduating from high school, Lucas moved from Springfield, Missouri to Los Angeles to pursue a film career, and several months later landed his first Disney Movie, Halloweentown High. His break through performance was in HSM, in which he sang two duets with Ashley Tisdale, What I've Been Looking For and Bop to the Top.
Lucas has made TV guest appearances on Boston Legal, Smallville, Til Death, and Veronica Mars. He also participated in the first ever Disney Channel Games on the green team with team captain Ashley Tisdale, Mitchel Musso, Kyle Massey, Miley Cyrus, and Emily Osment.
He recently filmed the movie Alice (an independent film based off the Alice book series by Phyllis Reynolds Naylor) as the character Lester McKinley. It is expected to release in selected theaters in Spring 2007.
In January 2007, he finished touring on the High School Musical: The Concert tour along with Drew Seeley, Vanessa Anne Hudgens, Ashley Tisdale, Corbin Bleu, and Monique Coleman. Lucas also recorded You Know I Will for The Fox and the Hound 2, and Go The Distance for the Disneymania 5. He will also be starring as Ezra in The Adventures of Food Boy.
Did You Know?
At one point in early 2006, Lucas had three songs on the top ten iTunes downloads. At that time, six of the top ten were from the soundtrack to High School Musical.
Lucas landed his first commercial 2 months after moving to LA, and his first movie, Halloweentown High, came just a few months after that.
Attended Kickapoo High School, the same high school Brad Pitt attended
Lucas also went to Guatemala on an annual basis with his family as a part of a mission's team for six years.
Memorized the entire 'Get'Cha Head in the Game' dance, even though his character in HSM wasn't involved in the sequence.
Lucas on HSM3 and Tisdale:
"Yeah, I did first musical, “The Secret Garden,” when I was 12 and from then on that’s when I decided I wanted to be an actor and so I kept doing musicals and plays, performing as much as I possibly could until I graduated high school.
Lucas' favorite performance:
"It’s hard to say. We preformed in so many places, 43 cities in the United States and 10 different cities in South and Central America, so it’s hard. I’d say one of my favorite places was in Mexico at Monterey and at Guadalajara our last show was really great. But there were so many on our United States tour that awesome as well."
On his career:
"The career choice I made moving out to Los Angeles was to be an actor and that entails a lot of things. Being in a musical you sing and dance as well, but I’ve been a musician longer than I’ve been an actor and music has always been something that’s for me and so I don’t see myself making any money with my music for quite some time."
Lucas on how is like his character Ryan Evans:
"No I don’t act like him. I don’t have the same views as he does. I definitely don’t dress like he does. I’m pretty independent, I’m not dependent on someone like he is with his sister so much in the first one."
His lovely cameo role on Veronica Mars:

"I still feel like a little boy on the set, watching the movie magic being made."
"I have just cleaned my apartment a lot and have spent a lot of time hanging out with my sister's dog in the apartment! I am the same as everyone else- working and just trying to get the next role."
"I want to do more mature, artistic, twisted, edgy films. That is my goal."
"It is absolutely amazing; singing is what got me into acting, and it's crazy that once i moved out to Los Angeles, I thought that it wouldn't be part of my life anymore. But then here it goes.. It's just out of nowhere and I had no idea it was gonna have this much success. It's great."
"I love working with Ashley, Vanessa and Zac. Ashley is so much fun to be around. It’s been a really great blessing, it’s kind of like I live in a fantasy world, but I understand that whether I want it to or not, it’s going to end at some point. I’m totally fine with that, I live in the moment.”He was always interested in theater:
