The NY Times’ Pete Wells reports in yesterday’s Diner’s Journal that SoHo’s newest Frenchy French La Cave des Fondus will be faithful to its Parisian counterpart. That means they’ll have a super unique bottle service. That’s right, La Cave des Fondus will serve its house wines and brews via baby bottle.

The service began in the 1960’s when, as rumor would have it, Parisian restaurateurs found that they could circumvent a city tax if they sold their spirits in baby bottles.

La Cave des Fondus will focus mainly on meats and cheese fondues, but do you think people will gather to drink wine out of baby bottles. The folks of Paris seem to dig it. Epic fail or major success?

La Cave des Fondus opens today at Prince and Elizabeth Streets in Manhattan.
